Xela at 15

Today's title alludes to a critically praised, short-lived tv series from the '70's, James at 15, set in Boston, featuring a sensitive, geeky and awkward high school student who loses his virginity in the first season to a hot, older Swedish exchange student. When the series aired, Mama was a sensitive, geeky and awkward high school student living outside of Boston - but alas, that's where the similarities grind (so to speak) to a halt. No sexy Swedish seduction stories. There were other dramas and diversions, but that's another day and another blog. This one's about me!

So, yesterday I hit the big One-Five: 15 months going on 15 years. Don't worry. I'm not looking to lose my virginity anytime soon (let's not even go there, please.) But you gotta admit, I'm one hot little Guatemalan tomatillo.

Hitting the bottle again...
but I sure look cool doing it!

Like teenagers, I spend hours primping in the bath...

and doing my "do"

I've got the keys...
Mama won't mind if I take the Bumble for a spin.

Of course I drive stick!

party dress

I don't wear a lot of dresses. I love rough 'n' tumble play... especially if it involves flying through the air or upside down. Must be my monkey genes. I'm a playground junkie. Pants just make sense. It's a lifestyle thing. But every now and then, I hear the (high-pitched) call of my inner girly girl.

Bat Mitzvah blur

I don't remember much about Leah's Bat Mitzvah. The ceremony was hard to understand. At dinner, I threw a knife at the nice lady next to me, then nearly set our table on fire (hey, don't blame me. SOMEONE wasn't watching the baby.) We made an early exit after the salad course.

The highlight was meeting cousin Eliana from North Carolina (here with her cool Mom, Marissa.) Eliana's younger than I am, but a lot faster. Must be the bare feet.

Uncle Eddie swept me off my feet for a dance.

but it's all a bit of a blur...

Athena here...

This blog has languished long enough. Xela has been neglecting deadlines, too preoccupied with walking and talking instead. No more. Saturday (5-10) was my 2nd birthday. I'm kicking off my terrible twos by hijacking the blog. Someone's got to run this joint.

Check below for the past month's news and photos, post-dated and edited by yours truly. From now on, expect strict quality controls. Xela's productivity will be strictly monitored. Procrastination will not be tolerated. Failure to blog promptly will result in severe penalties. I mean SEVERE!

Don't mess with the silver diva.

as the robin flies

Auntie Robin flew in from Las Vegas Friday to spend a day with me and Mama, before cousin Leah's Bat Mitzvah Saturday. It was cold, rainy, and raw, but we didn't care; Auntie Robin makes everything fun.

my new Vegas disco top and crackberry*
*okay, it's Robin's cell. but I want one.

when you've got it, flaunt it...

who's that grinning in the steamy hot tub?

whee!

who swims in a flannel shirt?
(silly Mama forgot her suit)

we went underwater and everything

crawling down the hall took too long...

so I ran, fell, got up, and ran some more!

Robin & I shared apple chips in bed

then we counted toes

it's all good

Why does Auntie Robin live so far away? She's way too cool to see only a couple times a year. Fly back soon! xoxox xela
